Hey Vicki!!!! I think your writings are wonderful!!!!! I would suggest "Crazy on You" by Heart as a completely interesting Intro and a song that you could easily embellish with super far-out funky alt. tuning!!! It also sounds like the kind of song Tommy E. would make unique, but I'd prefer to hear it from you!!! Peace out - Tommy Ocean

Hi Vicki,

thanks very much for sharing your tunings. I will try the above mentioned tuning this evening. My fav's are standard G and D tunings but leaving the lower E string to E :-)) - I don't know why, but I think I feel safe in leaving it. If you are interested, you can listen to those non-standard tunings by visiting my site. The song "Desperation" (the player shows: The Men Behind feat. Robs Didge N0. 09) is in nonstandard D with capo in 2nd fret and Song No 23 She came.. is in nonstandard G capo in third fret - Song no 3 and 4 are in the same tuning.

Cheers and take care,

Mark

Hi Vicki, first of all I'd like to say that you're style is unbelievable. My father turned me on to your videos and I've been thinking for about a month now that I'd really love to be able to get started down that path. I see the way you play as suited best to the direction I'd like to take my playing and eventually songwriting.

So I'm asking if you'd be interested in giving me lessons, even if it's just a few to get me started. I live in PA and will soon live in Brooklyn, NY... trying to follow the dream as a songwriter. I've spent the last 6 years learning how to sing and write songs and I feel that my guitar playing needs to be my next area of extreme focus and dedication.

I'm going to send this to a few places where I think you might get it... if you're in the lesson giving market and have any recommendations for someone I could become a student to, I would greatly appreciate that information as well!

Best! and I hope to hear from you soon!!!

Hi Vicki!

Great idea to share some of your tunings. I am always trying new tunings, create a couple of songs, try new tunings, forget about the other tunings and end up don't knowing anymore how to play my own songs - quite confusing but still a lot of fun to me.
My favorite is dadgad by the way. It's the only damn tuning I remember to play my songs so, lol

Peace and noise,
Stefan

hi vicki! hooray, a blog! :)

and, i'd LOVE some ideas about how to find cool stuff in new tunings. i've only been playing guitar for about nine months and have just recently started experimenting with alternative tunings beyond dropped-D (mostly via ani difranco and joni mitchell songs).

lots of love to you, and can't wait to see you at your mo pitkins show!

xoxo.

Cool! Thanks for inviting me to your blog. I've never tried alternate tunings before, and with your help perhaps I'll let my hair down and give it a go. Take care!
